Hey guys i m new to the site and new to modifications however i am not new to civics this is my 5th civic but my first civic si.
Modified stock air box.
I have modified my stock airbox by cutting out the bottom of it saving only the 3 fastening points to the bottom tray i stopped the cut right before the bottom of the filter i used a small cut off wheel and saw i also saved the fender ports too it works great and now i just installed a r air hood so now i m gonna cut the top out and install a second air filter for the hood air so cold air.
Wanted to know see if anyone has modified their stock airbox to bring in more air along with a high flow drop in filter.
Here is a link which includes dyno results on a sc d tundra.
Modified stock air box i mean maybe drilled some extra strategicly placed holes possibly on the side facing the front of the car where some extra cool air could be pulled in.
Slightly better but still disappointing.
I ve seen other forums where people have swiss cheesed the box with 1 holes.
Alot of great info on here and wanted to see what you guys think.
I will note the new procharger design uses the stock air box.
While i was doing my high and low boost maps i figured i would compare a stock airbox vs a 4in intake.
Would i install it after having the experience of driving it eh maybe not in hindsight.
Installing an air filter adapter and high flow air filter is the best alternative however if you have to keep the stock air filter box for whatever reason it is possible to modify this setup for better air flow.
I had started off by removing the air resonator hoping for some good growl woooosh sounds.
I m happy enough with the results.
Earl s rear seat storage dex s stock air box mod tundrageeks.

We start by removing the stock air filter from the filter box.
I havnt had a chance to pull mine yet and look to see.
Before the 4in intake made 918hp.
Last weekend i had some extra time so i blocked off the stock intake path that snakes from the top of the airbox around its back.

Let s me note this here the stock air box was 895hp.
Any forward progress puts outside air into the box stock or modded.

On a sc d tundra it s probably a 8 1 increase.
Recently bought a 2012 civic si coupe.
As already stated it took 5 minutes and weather stripping for me to seal my stock box to the front frame rail.
